Box Canyon in Mount Rainier National Park, Washington | June 1981 & June 2016
Excerpt
from my grandmother’s travel journal on June 3rd, 1981: “Going into
misty clouds – the viewpoint for Mt. Rainier was enveloped in it. The
next point ‘Box Canyon’ – mossy green walls deep down to ground
somewhere. It drizzled, then sun peeking out now & then. From the
stone bridge a fantastic view both ways into a 'klamm’ (gorge), very
deep and narrow with wild rushing water pressed between the narrow walls
of a dark slit.”
