Hause Creek Campground in Naches, Washington | June 1981 & June 2016
Excerpt from my grandmother’s travel journal on June 2nd, 1981: “Passed a ranger station, went in and asked advice. A woman ranger recommended the small campground right across the road – we went there, found a nice spot, sandy-grassy under high pines, #7 left. We were surprised by a very nice washroom – colorful, clean, natural wood shelves under two good mirrors. Talked with a lady from Good Sam Club, who hosts these small camps since the state has no money for upkeep.”
I found it interesting that my grandmother praised the condition and upkeep of this location, as the campground is now closed indefinitely due to water and sewer issues. I had to sneak into the campground to capture this photo of Site #7.
