from my grandmother’s travel journal on September 16th, 1974: “On
entering the Visitors Center, the slide show goes on automatically. At
the end, the dark curtain that hid a picture window opens and shows the
two locomotives facing each other in the middle of the plain under the
big blue sky. Walked out on the site to look closely at the two
locomotives, tent, wagons, etc. Nobody there but us – and the warm
sun.”
