Green River KOA in Green River, Utah | June 1981 & May 2016
Excerpt from my grandmother’s travel journal on June 11th, 1981: “Tried the state park, which was dirty. Right across the road, the KOA – got a tent site, open meadow, calmed down with a tiny sip of wine and some cookies. Dusk fell pretty quick, so we took a walk around camp, bought a picture book of Utah, and sat for awhile on the bench under the moon.”
When I arrived at the Green River KOA, I quickly learned that a new KOA had been built in the town since the time my grandparents had stayed. The original KOA building still stands at what is now called A/OK RV Park. The caretaker of A/OK told me that the campground was known as the community pool when she was a kid and she spent many hot summer days swimming there.
