Maritime Historical Park in San Francisco, California | April 1979 & May 2015
Excerpt
from my grandmother’s travel journal on April 27th, 1979: “Along the
wharf we found a surprise – National Park Maritime Museum of old ships
– tied up on one pier. Lady ranger gave us the earphones like in
Carlsbad Caverns and we went through the ‘Thayer’, three-masted schooner
that logged lumber on the West Coast nearly 100 years ago.”
The
'Historic Ships’ building has since moved a short distance to a new
location on the Hyde Street Pier. Check back in a few days to see the view
from where it stood in 1979!
